Feb 13, 2012 • Lady Antebellum wins Best Country Album at Grammy Awards

Lady Antebellum won its seventh Grammy award Sunday night.

The trio won Best Country Album for 2011’s Own the Night. It is the second year in a row they took the category.

Lady A was the big winner at last year’s Grammys with five awards, including Record and Song of the Year, for the band’s yearning crossover ballad Need You Now. They also won Best Country Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals for 2010’s I Run to You.

On stage, the trio, including Columbia County natives Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, thanked their label and others who helped produce the album.

Wearing coordinated but “simple” outfits they told The Associated Press during an interview on their way into the auditorium that they were nervous about winning their seventh golden statue.

“To come back this year and have another (nomination) is really special,” Kelley said.

Hillary Scott, wearing a long purple dress, said she had “butterflies.”

“We know there will be a time when we don’t have nominations,” Kelley said. “We’re soaking it up.”

Scott showed off her wedding ring from new husband Chris Tyrell. The two were married in January.

Jan 23, 2012 • Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott Reveals How She Knew Husband Was ‘The One’

Just recently, the country music world learned of Hillary Scott’s private and intimate wedding to her musician boyfriend, Chris Tyrrell. Leading up to the sacred nuptials that took place in New York on Saturday, Jan. 7, the Lady Antebellum singer spoke openly to Cosmopolitan magazine about her fiance and that exact moment when she realized he was “the one.”

“It was when I met his family,” says Scott in the interview. “His brother is 10 years younger, and when I saw them together, I knew he’d be a great father. I just melted!”

Scott has been well prepared for marriage for the past several years now — or at least what it takes to live with a guy – as she spends a majority of her life traveling on the road in a bus she shares with only men, including her Lady A bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood.

“Guys can brawl about something and then just move on,” Scott says of what she has learned from being in close quarters with men nonstop. “Women don’t do that. I’ve learned that I have to just say ‘What are you yelling about?’”

Now that Scott is officially married, there will be one wedding left for Lady Antebellum when Dave Haywood weds his new fiance, Kelli Cashiola. The two became engaged around Christmas time when Haywood spelled out “Will you marry me?” in Christmas lights in her front yard. No date has been set for Haywood and Cashiola’s wedding, but it’s probably a ways off, seeing how the trio will be launching into the next leg of the Own the Night tour at the end of this month.

Oct 18, 2011 • Lady Antebellum Reveal 2012 Tour Dates

Lady Antebellum haven’t even launched the first leg of their Own the Night Tour yet, but they are already gearing up for the second leg in 2012. The new arena dates run from January 27 in Tulsa, Okla. through June 29 in Indianapolis, Ind., and will feature Darius Rucker and Thompson Square sharing opening act duties.

While the Own the Night Tour is not the first headlining trek for Lady Antebellum, it will be the first time the award-winning trio is headlining arenas. Last year they spent many months headlining theaters from coast to coast.

“This is the tour we’ve always dreamed of putting together,” says Lady A’s Charles Kelley in a press release. “We got to help design the stage and really collaborate on new production ideas, and now we’re just really trying to hone in on the perfect set list to give the fans a cool mix of hits and some of their favorite songs from the new record.  Plus, we’ve been working on some really intimate moments for our show, where we can really break things down and be close to the crowd.  I can’t wait for the next nine months!”

Fans can begin to purchase their seats for the first leg of the tour starting on October 28. The 2011 trek is set to kick off on November11 in Knoxville, Tenn. Dates for the entire tour can be seen on Lady A’s official website.

Oct 18, 2011 • I’m upping the ante

STUNNING Hillary Scott of country-pop sensation Lady Antebellum has become a superstar after being twice shunned by American Idol.

The Just A Kiss singer never gave up on her dream after failing to make it through to the live shows on the TV talent show in the States. “It was definitely heart-breaking at the time because nobody wants to get rejected,” Hillary tells Shuffle.

“Back then, I was trying to find my place in the spotlight to sing for a living. I was looking for a break and I don’t regret doing American Idol; I’m thankful for the experience.

“It just wasn’t my story, and that’s okay, but I would tell people, who try out for American Idol or X Factor or whatever, not to get discouraged if they don’t make it on shows like that. If it’s your dream, keep at it because I’m proof that you can still do it.
